In Fuzzy on the Dark Side, the above formula recurs to describe how our representations (B) of reality (A) inevitably contain an error (for so many reasons).
So we have :
B = A + E
Applied in so many ways:
Busyness = Productivity + E
Credentials = Intelligence + E
Novelty = Creativity + E
Brand = Objectives + E
Benchmark Score = Capability + E
The error is the most interesting part to me. It has luck, omissions, inertia, strangeness, and individuality.
“What did we lose in the approximation?” is a reflection on the manner in which our intelligence is inevitably incomplete.
